The Fair Hill Fifty course consists of two laps of tight, twisty, and rooty single track with unrelenting elevation changes that keeps the rider on their game or else. The first lap consists of a four mile prologue along with the Expert course for a total of about 27 miles. The second lap is the same as the first lap minus the four mile prologue for right around 23 miles.
Jeff Niner finished 21st Place Endurance Master Men 45+ in 06:40:52. Jeff was the consummate teammate riding with Tom after catching up with him in the immediate aftermath of his crash on the first lap and then riding with Kathleen as they tried to address her cleat issue on the second lap.
Tom Howe DNF’d after 17 miles surviving a superman over the bars crash before mangling his chain ring and having to walk out just over two hours into his race.
Everyone was pleased with their results as they are rounding into form with the SM100 looming large on the horizon on Labor Day Weekend.
