While the forecasts were threatening chances of rain on Saturday, October 19th, the first of the REV3 Fall Foliage Mountain bike races at Willowsford ended up being on crisp fall day, perfect for the occasion.
Noah Flaxman headed out to the Grant at Willowsford for his first race of the day (to be followed by the Paranormal 6-Hour), hoping to find the notoriously muddy trails in good condition after the torrential rain that was had about a week and a half prior. After lining up toward the front of the start line, Noah was one of the first few riders into the trail.
After getting passed by a few other riders about halfway into the first lap, Noah began playing catch up, working till about halfway through the second of two laps to catch Rev3’s AJ Kray. Then, on one of final rock littered climbs, Noah pulled away from another rider with the help of the Specialized Epic’s terrain sensing “Brain”, keeping the bike super efficient on the climbs and fire roads of the Willowsford course and opening up the suspension to smooth out the loose descents.
Pushing hard all the way to the finish line in a effort to keep back anyone who might try to regain a position, Noah finished the race 3rd in the Weekend Warrior Under 35 Category and 4th overall.
