Chris Lane, John Kromis, and Marco Demartin went down to Williamsburg to attend one of the last MTB races of the season, the 26th Annual Tidewater Challenge Mountain Bike Race p/b Casey Auto Group. The Tidewater MTB Challenge is a 2-day MTB racing event that includes enduro 5hrs, CRIT, XC, and the VA State Single Speed championship. The morning frost, cooler weather, and a clear sky created the perfect conditions to race the roller-coaster trails.
Marco and John raced the 5hr Duo Enduro category. John and Marco had 5 hours of tightly contested racing for 1st place against Adolfo Carrion and Keith Papanicolas. John and Marco followed the same strategy as last year racing double laps for the whole race. Adolfo and Keith raced single laps for the first half of the race. Running single laps, Adolfo/Keith were able to catch Marco on the second lap to lead the race. Marco and John kept the distance to at most 20 seconds until Adolfo/Keith switched to double laps. At the end of lap 14, Marco and John gained the race lead which they kept until the last mile of the last lap when Adolfo took the lead again to win the race.
Great way to end the MTB racing season!
