The fourth weekend of the Super-8 Series is held at the Lilypons Water Gardens in Maryland. AJ and Adam raced in the chilly morning finishing strong and with a lot of course recon. Noah was eager for redemption after suffering a mechanical at Tacchino and had a great start. The course was wide and fast lending itself to group tactics. Noah settled in early on until a borrowed set of wheels let him down on the last lap; Noah stayed calm and called for a bike. Since it was the last lap his mechanic had wandered off (Chris what were you thinking? #itsnotoveruntilitsover)! Chris hustled back with a cross bike on road wheels which Noah took like a pro and finished the race. The Wicked Wash Ladies took the weekend off from racing, but headed over to the bike wash to heckle the racers. Chris came out strong, narrowly missing a big crash early on and settling in with a small fast lead group. Adam showed up with a brand new cyclocross bike, and Chris’s was suspiciously “broken” so he was on Adams rig. That thing must have been magical; Chris attacked and opened up a nice gap over the field. A burped tire cost him some time, but Noah showed what a good teammate does and was Jonny-on-the-spot with a pump. Chris worked back to 6th place. Do you think Adam will be suspicious if he doesn’t fix his bike by Schooley Mill next week?
