Cap Cross! This race is so big it’s Mr. January in Darrell Park’s 2015 calendar! It’s so big that the race promoter drags the wildest euro-weather all the way to Reston just for this race! Cross bikes, final race of the series, mud, snow, bike wash, scud fries, and serious prems. Wicked Wash showed up with a full crew, with an entire season of races in their legs and on their bikes ready for one last show down. The course was great, muddy, frozen, and slippery. The blow by blow of this one was lost in the mud, but bikes were changed, the pits ran smoothly, and the Wicked Wash crew raced their butts off! How hard were they going? Chris got handed a mid-pack prem when he was in 2nd place! We were surprised that he could even see the golden ticket (he says he thought there were two of them…)
This race marked the end of an awesome season, and since the equipment was cleaned at the bike wash we’ll do a quick recap with the time we would have spent on the trainer or washing the bikes. Wicked Wash showed up to the cyclocross season eager to race and ended up with 60+ race entries (including The Rockburn Tandem Race!) We’d like to thank our 2014 sponsors. Wicked Wash for keeping our bikes clean, helping in the pits, and tons of enthusiasm! Spokes for helping to keep our bikes going, Specialized for keeping us going fast. Industry 9 wheels, if you haven’t tried a set, you should. Optic Nerve for keeping the mud out of our eyes. ERMD, if you need financial services, check them out. And Crankbrothers, for when you need to be able to clip and unclip while others can’t.
