Sunday was the 2016 Monster Cross p/b RunRideRace at Pocahontas State Park just outside of Richmond, VA.
With temperatures in the 50’s for the start, a revamped course with two fast 25 mile loops, and perfect trail conditions, one could not have asked for a better day or venue to kick off our racing season!
Racing the Monster for Wicked Wash Racing, congratulations to all who raced as the team brought home a podium finish along with 2x Top 10 finishes.
Tom Howe was able to attack on the last 7 miles of the course finishing strong and moving up in the standings against the largest field of finishers racing Men MTB 40+.
Racing the Mini Monster for Wicked Wash Racing, congratulations to Howard Flaxman, Mary Dobroth, and Luke Flaxman for their respective finishes! Luke rocked the Mini Monster course as one of the youngest competitors in the race!
Finally, a huge shout-out to all of the volunteers, sponsors, our friends, our families, and our fellow racers who make this race a great way to kickoff the season! It was a great way to catch up with familiar faces and new acquaintances after a long winter as we got to ride, race, and socialize together.

Sunday was a great day to be on the bike! The weather and the trail conditions were perfect and I loved the fast rolling revamped course. I felt strong throughout the race, especially in the last 7 miles, which allowed me to repeatedly bridge up and then attack as I had my nutrition perfectly dialed in with my custom mix of Infinit Nutrition that I supplemented with some Honey Stinger Energy Chews.
